Raising Flood Awareness with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency

Working with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) Theatre& Learning are delighted to be delivering for the third year a bespoke tour to raise awareness about flooding and climate change. The presentations and workshops target young children aged between 7 and 11 years old in Primary School's across Scotland.

Our educational presentations inform children about the dangers and risks of flooding and highlight the links between flooding and climate change.

A key objective was to raise awareness of SEPA and the services they provide like Floodline meaning children are better informed about how to prepare for and react to flooding.

Theatre& use the latest industry leading audio-visual technology alongside theatre-led presentation to ensure the delivery of key messages is both memorable and engaging.

Creating an interactive experience provides an excellent environment for learning where messages are retained and understood - this empowers children to take information home to educate parents and other family members on how to use the Floodline service; providing a greater awareness of the dangers of flooding.

Richard Lochhead, Scotland’s Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and Environment, said:

"This play is an excellent way of engaging our young people, helping them to understand how and why flooding happens as well as how crucial it is to be prepared"
